Grande Orquesta Navarre is a four-piece chamber music ensemble whose name is inspired by the imagined music played in the lobby of Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel, the Orquesta típica (a Latin American term for a tango band), and the Navarre building in downtown Denver, Colorado (a former Victorian-era brothel). Composed of Susan Cahill (bass), Tom Hagerman (violin, accordion), Evan Orman (bandoneon, cello), and Sara Parkinson (piano), the music of Grande Orquesta Navarre is a combination of tango, classical, and original compositions that is both delightfully anachronistic and refreshingly novel.
